Recent financial scandals have led to a demand for ethics to be prioritized in accountancy. There is no denying that there has been an abnormal increase in cases. What explains this increase and how to fight against these cases should be our credo to guarantee investors' confidence in audited financial data. Perhaps the ethical part of an accountant's training and the social psychology have been too much neglected. We can hope that the recent convictions will make the whole profession think about how to prevent scandals.
