A year ago, we looked at the European Commission’s series of measures to strengthen the European legal framework in the fight against corruption.(1) As a reminder, the first measure is to promote communication in the fight against corruption within the European Union with the objective of spreading the culture of ethics within Member States and introducing the fight against corruption into European public action. The second level of this regulatory package is to use the legal weapon of the sanctions regime of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (“CFSP”) in the fight against corruption.
