On 18 June 2024, the European Supervisory Authorities (the “ESAs”) published a joint opinion (the “Opinion”) in which they expressed their recommendations for the next iteration of Regulation (EU) 2019/2088, as amended (“SFDR”). The Opinion comes at the own initiative of the ESAs and is to be read in the context of the SFDR wholesale consultation in which the European Commission (“EC”) sought feedback on a potential overhaul of the SFDR framework. This contribution provides an overview of the Opinion and discusses the impact of the most prominent recommendations for fund managers.
