In the past few years, the EU has continuously expanded its ESG regulatory framework. In this context, ESG data is an important building block in the implementation of the EU’s sustainability efforts, and thus also in the corresponding regulatory requirements for financial institutions. They are obliged to collect ESG data from their customers to comply with national and international regulatory requirements. The increasing scope of ESG data requirements, however, poses significant challenges for financial institutions.
