In 2007, the European Union introduced the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID)(1) in response to the subprime crisis, emphasizing transparency in market transactions and enhanced investor protection. In 2018, the revised MiFID II came into effect accompanied by the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation (MiFIR),(2) offering technical standards for implementation.
