On 5 December in Baku, the Western Azerbaijan Community organized the International Conference "Enabling the safe and dignified return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia: Global context and just solution".
The Western Azerbaijan Community, established in 1989, deals with protection of the rights of Azerbaijanis who were expelled from Armenia. In May 2018, the Karabakh (1) conflict had caused about 30,000 casualties and created 600,000 IDPs (internally displaced persons) and some 250,000 ethnic Azeri refugees from Armenia who were recognized as prima facie refugees in 1992 and naturalized in 1999 (2).
