Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the “AI Act”) was published in the EU’s Official Journal on 12 July 2024. The AI Act lays down harmonized rules for the development, placing on the market, putting into service, and the use of artificial intelligence (“AI”) in the EU. Its goal is to promote the benefits of AI, such as innovation, whilst ensuring a high level of protection in terms of fundamental rights. This contribution provides a preliminary analysis of the key aspects of the AI Act that are relevant for EU funds and their managers.
