An interesting recent book by Mearsheimer and Rosato (2023) deals with the decision-making problem of governments in foreign policy. The topic of course is very timely and even though focussed on foreign policy, it is also of foremost interest for governmental decision making in general, especially given the increase in uncertainty in today’s world.
As highlighted by the authors, the world in which States operate is mostly characterized by uncertainty and international politics is thus, by essence, an information-deficient enterprise.
