The European Banking Federation elected today Piia-Noora Kauppi, Managing Director of the Federation of Finnish Financial Services, as Chair of its Executive Committee for a 2 year mandate. She succeeds Wim Mijs, Director General of the Dutch Banking Association. A lawyer by training, Kauppi is a former Member of the European Parliament, where she served from 1999 to 2008, and has been a member of the EBF Executive Committee since 2009. “I am delighted to take over this chairmanship at such a challenging moment”, said Kauppi. “I know it will not be an easy task, but we need to continue the efforts to get the European banking sector back on track and ensure stability and sustainability.
