In June 2010 the EU Commission imposed fines against a high number of manufacturers of bathroom fittings, shower partitions and ceramic sanitary ware for alleged antitrust violations. Villeroy & Boch was fined EUR71.5 million. Villeroy & Boch already rejected the charges in the course of the preliminary investigation, arguing that the Commission had unlawfully combined different product and geographic markets. According to Chairman of the Board Frank Göring, “There have been no restrictive cross-market practices for bathroom fittings, shower partitions and ceramic sanitary ware.
