A huge part of the capital is concentrated in 13 financial institutions in the Eurozone
A study by the European Central Bank (ECB) found that major banks in the Eurozone are vulnerable to a possible withdrawal of capital by funds, insurers and clearing houses. The research finds that exposure to both bank assets, such as loans, and deposits, is concentrated in the 13 largest lenders in the euro area. According to the study, the eight globally important banks from the European Union (EU) are exposed to the greatest risk - BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, BPCE, Credit Agricole, ING, Santander, Societe Generale and UniCredit.
