On 13 May 2022, the Luxembourg data protection authority, the CNPD, launched its brand new so-called "GDPR-CARPA certification" scheme. By doing so, Luxembourg has become the first country to give the opportunity to data controllers and processors established on its territory (incl. public authorities) to benefit from a certification under the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") for specific processing activities. By obtaining such certification, controllers and processors will be able to demonstrate a high level of GDPR compliance in respect of such certified processing activities.
