For years, in the shadow of great authors, I have been interested in the juxtaposition of economic models and their religious influences. I have devoted several works to this subject. I share some insights on the recent research by demographer and historian Olivier Todd (who is publishing The Defeat of the West with Gallimard). Indeed, Olivier Todd links the collapse of the American world to the abandonment of the values of work and social discipline rooted in Protestantism.
