Artificial intelligence (AI) is neither a mere anecdote of history nor a technological gimmick. It's a revolution of which ChatGPT, which is impressing the scientific community, is just the harbinger. We are facing a societal upheaval that is more far-reaching than the industrial revolutions (such as steam, oil, electricity, nuclear power, and the Internet) that have gone before us. It is a reversal that will affect all our social, state, professional, and educational structures.
But where is the European Union in its preparations for these realities? Nowhere, since it is governed by political powers that are not exercising the vigilance that the public expects of them...
