Commission consults on facilitating cross-border fund distribution
In June 2016, the European Commission launched a Public consultation on the main barriers to the cross-border distribution of investment funds across the EU.
The public consultation covered all types of investment funds – both traditional funds and alternative funds distributed on a cross-border basis. In the jargon of EU investment funds, we refer to:
- Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS), which are mostly traditional funds subject to the UCITS Directive ;
- Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), mainly focusing on AIFs subject to the Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFM) Directive ;
