For a respondent, the dispute may trigger the need to make a provision in the accounts. In each case, decision-makers, auditors, shareholders, and regulators expect reliable, fact-based information. The financial exposure needs to be assessed carefully, not only for compliance purposes but also to guide strategic choices.
