Luxembourg Law of 23 July 2016 : Repeal of the Law transposing the EU Savings Directive and amendment of the RELIBI Law
By Alain Verbeken, Director Cross-Border Tax Alina Trotska, Senior Cross-Border Tax at Deloitte Luxembourg   The Luxembourg Law of 23 July 2016 transposes Directive 2015/2060/EU by repealing as from 1 January 2016 the Luxembourg Law of 21 June 2005 that had transposed the EU Directive 2003/48/EU (the Savings Directive). The same Law modifies also the Law of 23 December 2005 (as amended) relating to the final withholding tax regime on certain interest income (the RELIBI Law).   Background   On 10 November 2015, the Council of the European Union adopted Directive 2015/2060/EU, repealing the Savings Directive as from 1 January 2016.
