The entry into force of the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) in August 2024, and the application of the first prohibition in February 2025, marks a significant milestone in the regulation of digital technologies. Similar in scope and ambition to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the AI Act establishes a horizontal, risk-based framework applicable across sectors and business models.
