Uzbekistan’s economic policy response to Covid-19 pandemic

Mr. Dilyor Khakimov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands   Uzbekistan has been hit by coronavirus, with 9,078 contaminations and 27 deaths (or 0.8 deaths / 1 million inhabitants, as July 3, 2020): these figures are much lower than neighboring countries’ but Uzbekistan has been affected by the surrounding decline in production and consumption, the disruption of global production chains and trade relations, the lower commodity prices and the worsening global financial markets.   The government has adopted several measures: the creation of the Anti-Crisis Fund by the Ministry of Finance with an amount of 10 trillion sums (982 million $) to combat coronavirus infection, support entrepreneurship and employment,...
