GDPR : EU Guidance on the Right to Data Portability
The famous General Data Protection Regulation, which was published on 4 May 2016 and will have to be complied with as of 25 May 2018, will introduce a new right for physical persons to portability of their personal data. The Article 29 Working Party («Article 29 WP»), regrouping representatives of all data protection authorities in the EU has issued provisional guidelines on this particular point on 13 December 2016. These guidelines are of particular importance, as they give guidance on how to interpret the GDPR requirements regarding the right to data portability.
