We are making a colossal error of judgment by observing Trump’s trade strategy, which everyone knows is suicidal, starting with the United States itself, in a scenario reminiscent of the Great Depression of the 1930s.
However, we must look at things the other way around and ask ourselves what Trump wants. He essentially demands three things: to reindustrialize the United States by attracting foreign companies, to weaken the dollar to boost American exports, and, above all, to find compliant creditors for its public debt, the financing of which will need to be imposed on the rest of the world at a very low interest rate.
