Europe is often perceived as a wasteland for the equity investor. Weighed down by an inability to implement coordinated reform following the global financial crisis, the continent has endured a period of muted and fragile economic growth over the past decade – evidenced in its vulnerability to a number of issues ranging from the sovereign debt crisis, reliance on external demand from countries such as China, and rising populism.
