Uzbekistan: ILO Reports Historic Progress on Child Labor and Forced Labor in Uzbek Cotton Fields, Deputy Prime Minister Tanzila Narbaeva Explains in Brussels

The visit of Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Tanzila Narbaeva in Brussels at a forum on labor issues at the European Parliament was the occasion to present the progress made in the cotton fields where, according to a new report of the International Labour Organization (ILO)(1), the systematic and systemic use of child labor and forced labor in Uzbekistan’s cotton industry has come to an end.   Ms. Narbaeva explained that these practices were inherited from the Soviet times.
